Being overweight is no laughing matter and obesity is no joke!
It is estimated there is over 300 million obese people in the world today and that number continues to rise. Close to 10 million people suffer heart attack and stroke each year. In addition, obesity related costs are around $240 billion last year and that figure is expected to rise. The likelihood of developing Type 2 diabetes and hypertension rises steeply with increasing body fatness. Confined to older adults for most of the 20th century, this disease now affects obese children even before puberty. Approximately 85% of people with diabetes are type 2, and of these, 90% are obese or overweight. Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in modern culture and this should be of serious concern to anyone reading this page.
If you are not overweight, you mostly likely know someone who is. Perhaps you have watched as a friend or family member has struggled with trying to lose weight. Perhaps you have struggled to lose weight yourself.
If you have tried losing weight, you may know how much of a struggle it can be, to seemingly do all the right things and get little or no positive results.

Some of the most sensible advice, promoted by popular dietary experts, suggests you should eat a diet consisting of; high fiber, adequate amounts of quality proteins, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, low in sodium, low in carbohydrates (sugars), low in saturated fats and high in omega3‘s. Following this type of diet is great, considered healthy, and it will definitely nourish your body and make you a healthier person. But creating this lifestyle change is not as easy as it sounds and sadly its not necessarily going to result in the weight loss you’d expect and might like to see.
In fact, hundreds of millions of people consume this exact diet structure daily and still struggle with being overweight. Some in the medical community consider this group the, “Healthy Overweight” people. Meaning, you may be overweight but you might not have high blood pressure or high cholesterol. However, it doesn’t mean there are no negative consequences that can result from being a “Healthy Overweight” person! Some complications are knee, back, feet and other joint pain. Not to mention the potential difficulty in physical movement you may experience from being overweight. Possibly diminishing your chances at successfully maintaining any type of exercise regiment or successfully accomplishing physical jobs or tasks. You’ll also have less energy than you would if you were thinner and lighter on you feet. Unfortunately, most overweight people also have a diminished self-esteem and tend to be uncomfortable in public or social settings. This lack of self-esteem and uneasiness can negatively affect your social life and hold you back from achieving social connections that lead to larger goals in your life.
If you’re overweight and you’re someone who eats a daily diet of McBurgers, fries and soda, you probably already know that’s considered unhealthy and you should eat healthier. Many people already know, the negative consequences of a poor diet that is high in saturated fats, high in cholesterol and low in nutrient value.
Many people already know, that empty calories (processed junk food, soda, candy, other sugary drinks) contribute to our ever-expanding waistlines.
Most people already know, that this can result in excess fat stored on your body making you overweight or obese. As well as, the additional potential risks such as clogged arteries, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease (heart attack & stroke), diminished blood flow and poor circulation, decreased sex drive, higher risk of cancer, low endurance, low energy, high risk of injury to; feet, legs, knees, hips, back (spine damage), irritable bowel and other digestive problems.

Most of us already know that we should do better, eat better, exercise more and generally take better care of ourselves, but sometimes that’s just not possible. Now I’m not trying to upset you, but I do want you to be cognitive of the realities that exist for overweight and obese people. I also want you to know that no matter what your age, sex, race, weight, size, health condition, or situation in life, it is not too late or too difficult to turn your life around.
